In protest against the alleged derogatory remarks made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother in Darbhanga, BJP leaders and workers staged a silent sit-in at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Gandhi Maidan, Patna, on Saturday. All participants wore black bands on their arms as a mark of protest.

The protest was led by Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, who stated that the people of Bihar will never tolerate the insult of a mother.

He condemned the act and said that this incident has enraged the entire nation.

“On one hand, they pretend to protect the Constitution, while on the other, they insult the Prime Minister’s mother. They are both sons and grandsons of prime ministers, yet they show no respect for the position of the prime minister,” Prasad added.

Bihar Minister Nitin Naveen said that the people of Bihar will not tolerate the insult of a mother. He emphasised that BJP workers are fearless in the face of oppression and will continue their struggle against this insult.

National BJP leader Rituraj Sinha condemned the incident, stating, “To abuse the late mother of the prime minister, especially from a stage, has embarrassed the entire state of Bihar. This is not the culture or tradition of Bihar, where we worship our mothers and respect them.”

Sinha appealed to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, saying, “We all respect our mothers. Your platform has been misused, and if you believe this was wrong, then issue an apology and end this matter. Spare Bihar’s dignity and honor.”

BJP MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal stated, “The language used for the Prime Minister’s mother cannot be condemned enough.”

He noted that Bihar’s history has never been one of disrespecting women and promised that the people of Bihar and the nation will respond to this incident.
